Personal post // DIY day

Just a quick DIY personal post, the nasty weather has caused more days inside recently. My husband was complaining about not having anywhere to hang his caps and he wanted to just stick some hooks on the wall. Me, on the other hand, wanted it to look cool! So off to the garage I went to find something. I have a habit of going antiquing and finding things, then not using them for quite some time. I have had these old nasty green shutters for well over a year (maybe two now) so it was time to, "up-cycle" them and put them to use!

Hope you don't mind my sweat pant and slipper combo I have going on - so many snow days calls for this attire!

So here they are - pretty weathered and worn. To start, I lightly sanded the surface and then wiped down the whole shutter. Next was the fun part, spray paint time! I spray painted a piece for our bedroom this past summer so I used the same color to match. For anyone who knows me, it is turquoise of course!

I bought some white hooks from Walmart and roughly measured and spaced them along one edge of the shutter. The way the hooks were shaped, it was kind of awkward to get them drilled in, but I got there.

And this is the final outcome. I love how it turned out. Below is also a photo of the dresser I refinished last summer, I'm pretty biased, but I love that thing!

2014 // Year in Review - New Faces, New Friends

So, I think its time I get back at this blogging. I have a couple of sessions I can't wait to share with you. I didn't do a very good job at keeping up with my blog last year. This year my goal is to really get a grasp of this whole blog thing, my hope is that I can share with you some of my clients, my adventures and ultimately whats going on in life. I love getting to do what I do, shooting weddings, meeting new people, being involved in discipleship ministry (www.offthewallministry.com) drinking excessive amounts of coffee, being a wife, laughing (a lot) and following Christ.. wherever he may lead me. I am completely and utterly blessed to be living the life that I am. This morning while sipping on my coffee I was reading John pipers devotional and I was reminded again to "Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth." (Colossians 3:2) So as I get geared up for all that 2015 will bring my desire is to consider Jesus in all I do and say, as I interact with all of you I pray that Christ would be evident in my life.

Below is a small sampling of some of the moments I got to capture this year.blog2014#1 blog2014#4blog2014#5blog2014#2blog2014#3blog2014#6S.Flynn Designs - A great friend and an awesome Interior Designers - I get the privilege of capturing the beautiful spaces that she creates for clients.
