Personal post // DIY day

Just a quick DIY personal post, the nasty weather has caused more days inside recently. My husband was complaining about not having anywhere to hang his caps and he wanted to just stick some hooks on the wall. Me, on the other hand, wanted it to look cool! So off to the garage I went to find something. I have a habit of going antiquing and finding things, then not using them for quite some time. I have had these old nasty green shutters for well over a year (maybe two now) so it was time to, "up-cycle" them and put them to use!

Hope you don't mind my sweat pant and slipper combo I have going on - so many snow days calls for this attire!

So here they are - pretty weathered and worn. To start, I lightly sanded the surface and then wiped down the whole shutter. Next was the fun part, spray paint time! I spray painted a piece for our bedroom this past summer so I used the same color to match. For anyone who knows me, it is turquoise of course!

I bought some white hooks from Walmart and roughly measured and spaced them along one edge of the shutter. The way the hooks were shaped, it was kind of awkward to get them drilled in, but I got there.

And this is the final outcome. I love how it turned out. Below is also a photo of the dresser I refinished last summer, I'm pretty biased, but I love that thing!

SCALLY, 2014 // CORRY + OLIVIA

Getting to capture the wedding of people you know is a whole lotta fun. I always want to get to know my clients well, but it pays off even more when you've known them for a few years. Correy and I went through Off The Wall Ministry the same year. When you live in community with people, you get to know them pretty well; all their little quirks, their passions and desires and their heart. Correy is one extreme planner and organizer, so when he and his lovely fiance asked me to photograph their wedding, I knew it was going to be a good one! Every little detail had thought put into it. Everything about their wedding was, "Correy & Olivia." From their hashtags, to the chucks, books, vintage cups, lace dresses and awesome dancing. I just LOVE when clients bring their personalities and interests into their big day, it makes it very unique and 'just them'. Hope you enjoy this beautiful day as much as I did. Thank-You Correy and Olivia for letting me be a part of it!
